Description

Corporate Actuarial Reserving is looking for an Actuarial leader to drive best in class reserving across the enterprise.  This senior management position will focus on our mission to protect the health of the Company's balance sheet by pushing the reserving frontier with companywide, actionable insights and spearheading the identification of risk areas using a forward-looking mindset.  In recent years COVID, elevated economic inflation, the impacts of legal system abuse and operational disruptions have elevated the risk of material reserve development.  In strong partnership with the business units, the successful candidate will ensure we not only account for the changing environment in reserving analyses but that we also use the results of our work to impact critical business decisions.

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee adequacy and consistency of reserves across LM through objective and independent reserve reviews
  • Develop frameworks and cultivate actionable insights on matters that have enterprise-wide impacts
  • Drive reserving innovation through the research and application of alternative methods and approaches to address existing and potential opportunities
  • Influence key strategic decisions related to reserving through compelling, targeted and comprehensive communications around reserve analysis results
  • Collaborate with reserving teams across the company to connect related work, identify reserving themes and share best practices
  • Develop strategies around comprehensive monitoring to efficiently highlight emerging trends
  • Lead cross-business unit and cross-functional projects that significantly impact the Company’s decisions around reserve levels 
  • Lead cross-business unit and cross-functional projects that set standards and expectations regarding how we measure and monitor macro events that impact reserving
Qualifications
  • FCAS with at least 10 years of progressively increasing experience in actuarial roles; reserving and supervisory experience preferred
  • Broad knowledge of personal, commercial and specialty insurance; experience with non-US business and reinsurance preferred
  • Experience building consensus and executing on change with cross-functional teams
  • Advanced decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional team building and employee development skills
  • Track record of forming trusted relationships with business leaders
  • Demonstrated experience providing proactive guidance to drive business value
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences
  • Adheres to the highest standards of personal and professional integrity
