Manager - Risk & Analytics (Property & Casualty Actuarial Consulting)

As a Manager in the Corporate practice within Risk and Analytics, you will assist/lead project teams focused on developing and delivering reserve studies, pricing/funding analyses and captive consulting activities for our healthcare and corporate clients. You will have a significant number of client-facing opportunities, sharing the results and implications of our analyses with non-actuarial audiences. You will play a role in our marketing efforts and the growth of this practice area. At times acting as a project manager, you will bring order and process to the client teams with whom you work, and you will serve as a resource to analysts as you help them build their technical and client-facing expertise. As part of our Corporate practice, you will be mentored by more senior colleagues with deep relevant experience.

The Risk and Analytics Corporate Practice includes over 100 actuarial professionals focused on large market, U.S. clients. Our primary services include reserving and funding for retained losses, captive feasibility, retention optimization, and cost allocation models. We also perform actuarial analyses of loyalty programs for hospitality, airlines and financial institutions, and are actively involved in the development of capital modeling and predictive analytics solutions for our clients.

As a Manager, you will contribute to varied and interesting projects such as:
  • Self-Insurance and Captives - Pricing/funding analyses, valuation of liabilities, captive feasibility, and risk retention optimization
  • Predictive Modeling - Development and application of advanced predictive modeling techniques to help clients improve loss experience and enhance overall business performance
  • Analysis of Loyalty rewards programs for various industries

The Role
  • Review the first draft of client deliverables prepared by other project team members and modify as appropriate so that client needs are fully met while complying with our professional standards
  • Perform independent peer reviews of work products prepared by other project teams
  • Contribute to the development of new tools and approaches
  • Build strong internal relationships and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels
  • Train, mentor and serve as a best practices resource for junior colleagues, new staff and project team associates
  • Serve as primary, daily contact to clients on delivery of services
  • Deliver work in accordance with project deadlines
  • Develop a trusted advisor relationship with clients through effective communication and efficient, quality execution of projects
  • Serve as the day-to-day project lead, ensuring progress against established objectives, budget, timeline, deliverables and quality standards
  • Manage client expectations and raise appropriate issues to more senior colleagues, including Client Relationship Managers
  • Draft statements of work, project plans and budgets involving multiple workflow streams and client teams
  • Interface with colleagues from other practices and regions on assignments that reflect the client's broader business issues
  • Meet revenue and billable hour goals
  • Support the generation of new business as part of the broader team
  • Directly contribute to clients' success through the application of your technical expertise
