The Global Risk Solutions North America Actuarial team is seeking a Director, Actuary to lead the Mobility Solution Pricing team within GRS. This role sits within Liberty Mutual's Cross-SBU (Strategic Business Unit) Mobility team, which exists to help us stay ahead of and capitalize on the disruption of mobility trends. Segments in focus include shared economy, ridehail (car and driver service), autonomous vehicles, next generation vehicle technology, peer to peer, goods delivery, micromobility & more.
This role will develop pricing for new and renewal mobility accounts, as well as, assess overall book profitability and growth across certain segments. This team will lead efforts to build indications across our portfolio to help ensure the profit health of our book with a particular focus on ridehail (the largest segment). In addition, the manager will be expected to support the cross business units Mobility efforts and provide guidance on the book of business.
The role will report directly to the Chief Actuary Majors and will lead a team of 3.
Responsibilities:
- Price individual accounts in Mobility portfolio, partnering with teams across both GRS and GRM as appropriate
- Drive insights, coordinate and deliver ongoing profitability insights and reporting on accounts in portfolio
- Support new opportunity development for potential partners in collaboration with peer teams
- Lead efforts to automate, standardize, and improve indication-related tools, share global best practices
- Consistently deliver high levels of performance while operating in an environment of ambiguity
- Demonstrate intellectual curiosity to identify trends, potential issues and their underlying causes
- Evaluate tactical underwriting and pricing strategies
- Effectively communicate sophisticated financial/actuarial data to varied audiences; appropriately tailors communications based on the audience
- Deliver ridehail profitability reviews
- Establish processes to communicate product performance and identify optimization opportunities
- Communicate updates to internal and external leadership regularly
- Manage and develop 3 direct reports
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required. Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) designation required, or comparable actuarial education/designation combined with relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability to exert influence over senior managers, operating managers, and others on matters of importance to the SBU (Strategic Business Unit).
- Analytical skills with expert understanding of all actuarial techniques, standards, and assumptions.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial management of a P&C business.
- Ability to manage a mix of assignments that will be both strategic and tactical.
- Demonstrated ability to exchange ideas and convey complex information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills required to establish and build effective relationships within and outside the GRS Actuarial.
- Ability to give effective presentations to senior management and other groups.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, lead, get work done through others and to select and develop talent
