How you'll contribute:
As a Director & Actuary, you'll be responsible for producing and analyzing cash flow testing results for products subject to VM-21 (Variable Annuities Principal Based Reserves VA PBR). This individual will set the strategy for developing robust projection models, controls, and processes to facilitate the analysis of cash flow risks and modeled financial statements for statutory asset adequacy analysis. This individual will work with a variety of teams including investments, pricing, valuation, IT and hedging to continually refine all aspects of cash flow testing including reconciliations to reported financial statements. He/she will manage all financial reporting responsibilities relevant to regulatory asset adequacy analysis for these product lines.

This person will also be responsible for preparing and presenting general account liability duration results to the Asset Liability Management (ALM) Working Group for VA and Shield products, and reconciling cash flows to CFT model.

In this role, you'll get to:
  • Engage with pricing to implement product, pricing strategy, or hedging strategy updates within the projections model.
  • Collaborate with other Margin Analysis Leads to produce a consistent presentation of results.
  • Lead analysis of CFT model validations, attributions, results, and sensitivities for VM-21 products.
  • Lead analysis of VA and Shield ALM liability duration changes.
  • Complete year-end submissions of Secondary Memoranda, Exhibits, and related Schedules.
  • Recommend appropriate assumptions and methodology to the Appointed Actuary.
  • Develop process and model enhancements, working with Model Stewards and Actuarial.
  • Proactively engage with business partners to vet existing assumptions, methods, or procedures.
  • Ensure controls are appropriate and completed successfully each reporting cycle.
  • Attend industry meetings regarding NAIC Valuation Manual changes and remain up-to-date on current standards of practice relevant for asset adequacy analysis.
  • Maintain strong documentation on modeling processes, improvements, and analysis.


We're looking for people who have:
  • 5-10 years of experience with increasing responsibilities within an actuarial department.
  • Strong interpersonal and project/people management skills.
  • Experience in valuation, pricing, or cash flow testing.
  • Knowledge of Statutory valuation and Statutory financial statements.
  • Knowledge of Variable Annuity-type products.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences and regulators.
  • Must have strong ability to make decisions; ability to consider multiple aspects while making business decisions.
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) is strongly preferred.
