About the Role

The Actuarial Portfolio Management team within Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is looking to hire an actuary who will lead the analysis and selection of parameters supporting our global costing landscape. This role will have responsibility for the following activities:
  • Support our profitability projection methodology (as well as underlying assumptions) used around the world
  • Take ownership of parts of the annual processes for calculating global costing parameters such as internal expense loads, payout patterns, and breakeven ratios.
  • Report out our costed loss ratios and discover what drives differences from expected

A successful candidate will have strong technical skills and a high attention to detail. They must be willing to work independently, balance technical solutions with practical application, leverage business knowledge to ensure appropriateness of recommendations, effectively communicate findings to the global actuarial team, and explore improvements to established methods. They will also support global cross-product projects and local product-specific reviews as needed.
About the Team

We provide actuarial support to Corporate Solutions businesses across the Americas as well as own the development of many global actuarial models and parameters. We work closely with our P&C business leaders, providing guidance on profitability and needed rating plan changes to improve performance. We also partner with actuaries around the world to develop efficient cross-product models and consistent parameters. This role reports to the lead actuary supporting global profitability and costing parameters across Corporate Solutions.
About You
  • Completion of at least two exams from the Casualty Actuarial Society and currently working toward an ACAS credential
  • Strong work ethic, self starter, detail-focused, and able to meet defined deliverable dates
  • Strong desire to learn and to become a high contributor
  • Good communication skills and desire to work with a diverse community of actuaries and business leaders
  • Willingness to think about actuarial problems in new ways
