We are seeking non-rotating ASA and FSA level Actuary candidates for an open valuation position on the Traditional Life Valuation Team. The person selected for this role will help drive the overall success of the valuation team and the company's critical financial reporting obligations. This exciting role will interact with other departments including Experience Studies, Emerging Issues, Projections, and Finance teams within the organization and play a key role in developing new processes for LDTI. This position is responsible for developing history and valuation data strategies for LDTI using the PolySystems software. The remainder of their time will be playing an essential role in maintaining our valuation and business plan models, often validating model updates/changes.
Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibility for the next 2 years will be to lead projects related to developing and implementing procedures to create historic data and valuation files for LDTI
- Improving processes related to valuation and projection
- Focus will be part of strategic teams to develop, test and implement new practices for LDTI
- Providing guidance and review for calculation of Stat, Tax, and GAAP reserves
- Preparing and reviewing SOX controls
- Maintain and improve the valuation and business plan models
- Design, implement, and analyze impacts of model updates and improvements
- Coordinate with Pricing for reconciliation and implementation of new products
- Develop new reporting / analysis tools as necessary
- Work closely with other Valuation and Financial reporting teams
- Performing quarterly valuations and earnings variance analysis
- Other job duties as assigned, including ad hoc management reports

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Ideal candidate will be an ASA or FSA level actuary
- Experience as an actuary within the insurance industry
- Previous valuation experience preferred
- Excellent spreadsheet and technical skills
- Ability to learn new software
- Hard working
- Analytical and inquisitive
- Ability to work independently or on a team
- Excellent communication skills
- Traditional Life Insurance experience is preferred
- Experience using valuation and projection software. PolySystems software experience is a plus.
Protective's targeted salary range for this position is $105,00 to $160,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective's total compensation package for employees.
This position also offers additional incentive opportunities [through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance].
