We're actively seeking a talented Actuary & Director to join our Enterprise Actuarial Governance team in Newport Beach, CA; or Omaha NE.
  • This role is hybrid. We believe in empowering our employees to get work done both in and out of the office.


As an Actuary & Director you'll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by monitoring and influencing industry regulatory activities. You will fill an existing role that sits on a diverse team of five in the Enterprise.

How you'll help move us forward:
  • Collaborate with senior division actuaries and management, government relations, and senior enterprise management to develop company positions and advocacy strategies on financial and product regulatory issues.
  • Influence and monitor through active participation in industry trade association committees and /or through direct advocacy working with the government relations department.
  • Actively participate in professional activities supporting sound regulatory reform and actuarial professionalism through organizations such as the Academy and SOA.
  • Attend relevant regulatory meetings and conference calls and report internally on key developments.


The experience you bring:
  • An FSA designation.
  • Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Interpersonal skills, demonstrating ability to build effective relationships, collaborate and influence.
  • Working knowledge of US regulatory framework; Valuation, RBC, Reinsurance, Statutory Accounting.


What makes you stand out:
  • Valuation experience and exposure to Principles Based Reserves.
  • Industry involvement, specifically with the American Academy of Actuaries, ACLI or NAIC LATF.
  • Driving projects to completion while relying on Subject Matter Experts to provide content.
  • Willingness to be outspoken and advocate company position in large groups.

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$193,950.00 - $237,050.00
