Resolution Life is a global life insurance group focusing on the acquisition and management of portfolios of life insurance policies. Within Resolution Life, Resolution Re (Res Re) is our global reinsurance operation, based in Bermuda. We reinsure the financial and insurance responsibilities related to existing portfolios of policies sold by established life insurers in other parts of the world, primarily the US, Europe and Asia. We proactively manage an open and dynamic work environment, with an international team that is focused on applying technical expertise and technology to developing solutions for our counterparties.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The VP, Risk Actuary will be responsible for the evolution and performance of transaction risk review, the maturation and execution of quantitative risk assessment, performance of Resolution Re's model risk management, and supporting ongoing risk management activities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Develop and execute the risk review process for reinsurance transactions, including consideration of impact to risk profile, risk/return measures, and idiosyncratic risks.
  • Develop and execute stress and scenario testing, including framework design, stress calibration, methodology review, and production and analysis of results
  • Support Model Risk Management through review and challenge of model risk ratings, documentation, testing plans, and model validation.
  • Act as point-of-contact and Risk SME for Market Risk and Insurance Risk. This includes the review and challenge of key investment and actuarial assumptions.
  • Assist the CRO in the execution of the Company's Risk Management Framework, including risk identification, preparation of periodic risk reports, development of risk limits, and production of regulatory reports.


EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related area.
  • Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries (or equivalent); career ASAs considered.


EXPERIENCE:
  • 10+ years of relevant actuarial experience.
  • Experience with the Bermuda Long Term Insurance regulations is an asset.
  • Experience with reinsurance is an asset.
  • Experience with two or more of transaction pricing and structuring, experience studies, SBA modeling, or risk management is an asset.
  • Experience with multiple product lines across the U.S., Japan, and UK is an asset.
