Job Description

Job Summary

The VP, Portfolio Actuarial and Cat Modeling will be a key member of the Americas P&M team supporting business written by the North America MGA Underwriting team with a focus on property pricing and modeling.

The job holder will partner with the MGA underwriting team to evaluate and monitor the performance and profitability of the MGA programs, identify key drivers impacting the portfolio performance to support the decision-making, provide value added insights to the MGA portfolio, lead and conduct market and pricing projects, regularly contribute to the development of pricing methods and tools, etc.

Responsibilities

Key duties and responsibilities
  1. Produce pricing analytics including contract pricing, portfolio analysis, management reporting and streamlining of the process.
  2. Participate in underwriting audits and due diligence of North America MGA Programs portfolio to manage expectations on portfolio profitability and communicate SCOR's view of risk.
  3. Assist in developing and executing strategies to optimize the portfolio's performance and risk profile.
  4. Lead the development and enhancement of pricing tools; leadstudies to improve pricing methodology, enhance the efficiency of pricing processes, and apply sound judgement to help achieve long term profitability of SCOR.
  5. Develop portfolio monitoring tools to aid the monitoring of pricing adequacy of the the North America MGA Programs Business.
  6. Manage the CAT aggregation and reporting process in support of the North America MGA Programs Business.
  7. Lead and perform market studies to stay on top of key emerging trends and incorporate into pricing parameters and analyses.
  8. Participate in the rate, rule and form filings for all products in support for North America MGA for GSNIC. Provide help to P&C Operations and Program Managers around all sepects of the filling process.
  9. Mentor, train and review the work of more junior pricers and modelers.
  10. Participate in various cross functional teams and projects.


Qualifications

Experience:
  1. 7+ years of experience in (re)insurance pricing with strong background in property and cat modeling.
  2. Prior experience in casualty pricing would be a plus.
  3. Solid understanding of basic ratemaking concepts on exposure adjustments, trend, loss development, exposure rating and experience rating.
  4. Proficiency in RMS Risk Link, Excel, SQL and experience in R, Python or similar.
  5. Strong analytical skills and ability to manipulate or handle large datasets.

  3. Effective written and oral communication skills and ability to explain complex issues to non-technical audiences.

Digital Competencies:
  1. Expert Excel and database skills a must.
  2. Experience with statistical or programming languages desired.
