Responsibilities
- Lead a team of actuaries to support rate filings and product development across Arch Insurance business units by preparing actuarial support for rate and rule filings, including indication analysis, impact calculations, competitor research, and state-specific exhibits.
- Transform our operations, bringing best practices and finding ways to improve our processes.
- Serve as our lead representative alongside leaders from other departments to drive speed-to-market with better product development and filing strategies.
- Develop tools and processes to improve automation, efficiency and quality; research and improve analyses and data sources.
- Oversee testing of rating system implementation to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate and assist in the response to state rate filing objections and help negotiate approvals.
- Monitor and initiate bureau filings for rate and rule adoptions; review and interpret insurance regulations, bulletins, and publications to help determine rate impact and compliance risks for business units.
- Teach and train our future leaders.

Key Evaluation Criteria
- Most Vice Presidents have at least 15 years of P&C Insurance experience, but some have less.
- P&C Actuarial qualifications: actuaries and non-actuaries are welcome. Strong experience in the actuarial support needed for filings and objections is expected.
- Experience: knowledge of P&C Insurance products and filings in admitted lines, and engaging with DOIs. Strong commercial lines experience preferred.
- Leadership: Strength and experience as a teacher, manager, peer, leader and contributor to a positive culture.
- Efficiency, productivity and organizational skills, including ability to manage a large team
- Analytical and quantitative skills: theoretical foundation, work quality, productivity, creativity, ingenuity.
- Superior communication skills are important for partnering with cross-functional business partners.
- Software skills: Excel, Word, Power Point expected; database and programming skills are a plus
