Short Summary
A key leadership role within the US & Canada L&H Risk Management team. You will support the CRO L&H - US & Canada in developing and strengthening the team's position as a trusted, credible business partner with a seat at the table for key business decisions and strategic initiatives - demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of how Risk contributes to the business, and a good understanding of the commercial environment/market to achieve this. Together with the CRO L&H - US & Canada, you will provide Risk input, review, and challenge of the US & Canada L&H strategy. You will lead key Risk and Actuarial reviews, risk reporting, and support the development and reporting of timely and effective KRIs for the L&H business - coordinating work within the team, providing mentorship, and contributing to the technical direction of the team. You will also have opportunity to play a key role in the production of key inputs and reports for Group committees, particularly those relating to the US mortality business, coordinating work and providing mentorship of more junior members of the team also involved in this work. The position will involve interaction with senior stakeholders in the Life business in the US and Canada, with the SI Risk team, and with the global Risk team.

Job Summary
- Leadership role within the US & Canada L&H Risk Management team - supporting provision of independent risk oversight of all US & Canada L&H risk-taking activities, embedding a strong risk management culture across the organisation, and for providing advice, risk insights, and risk opinions to the company (the Board, CEO US, and US L&H Senior Leadership Team) to support strong and effective risk management
- Together with the CRO L&H - US & Canada, provide Risk input, review, and challenge of the US & Canada L&H strategy. Demonstrate and leverage an in-depth knowledge of how Risk contributes to the business, and a good understanding of the commercial environment/market to achieve this
- Lead risk and actuarial reviews, identifying and independently assessing risks to SCOR's business
- Development and reporting of timely and effective KRIs for the L&H business - e.g. claims experience, management actions
- Help coordinate work within the team, provide mentorship, and contribute to the technical direction of the team
- Lead or actively participate in Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) work, risk reporting, including quarterly risk dashboard reporting, and ad hoc analysis
- Supporting US & Canada L&H projects from a Risk Management perspective
- Supporting the activities of SCOR's Group Risk Management function - e.g. contributing to Group Risk Management initiatives, provision of inputs for Group Risk Dashboard, leading preparation of US mortality papers and analyses for Group Committees, etc. Coordinate work and provide mentorship of more junior members of the team also involved in this work
You will have the opportunity to assist in researching risks and projecting possible impacts on SCOR in the US and Canada, as well as globally. Through regular interviews with key stakeholders and data analysis, you will monitor identified business risks and mitigation actions.

• Together with the CRO L&H - US & Canada, provide Risk input, review, and challenge of the US & Canada L&H strategy
• Help coordinate work within the team, provide mentorship, and contribute to the technical direction of the team
• Develop and maintain the risk management system, comprising risk appetite, policies, processes and reporting procedures.
• Ensure risk management system allows identifying, measuring, monitoring, managing and reporting individual, aggregate and interdependencies between risks on a continuous basis.
• Design and production of risk management reports for Board and Board Risk Committee.
• Lead risk and actuarial reviews, identifying and independently assessing risks to SCOR's business
• Development and reporting of timely and effective KRIs for the L&H business - e.g. claims experience, management actions
• Lead or actively participate in Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) work, risk reporting, including quarterly risk dashboard reporting, and ad hoc analysis
• Supporting US & Canada L&H projects from a Risk Management perspective
• Interact and build relationships throughout the SCOR Group and Business Unit (BU), particularly in relation to Risk Management. Ensure effective leverage of SCORs risk management systems. Escalate main Company's risks to SCOR global Risk Management.
• Identify, monitor and report on risk trends through regular interviews with key stakeholders and data analysis considering IFRS and local regulatory impacts. Includes regularly exploring new means of measurement and monitoring aligned with SCOR's strategic plan.
• Drive and/or participate in technical risk analytics projects
• Supporting the activities of SCOR's Group Risk Management function - e.g. contributing to Group Risk Management initiatives, provision of inputs for Group Risk Dashboard, leading preparation of US mortality papers and analyses for Group Committees, etc
Required experience & competencies
• Qualified Actuary or equivalent
• Significant post-qualification and Risk Management experience
• Strong leadership skills, and senior management experience
• Proven ability to maintain independence from the business, and be an effective and constructive challenger at all levels
• Strong blend of risk, technical, analytical, and communication skills
• Excellent problem-solving and decision making ability
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to explain complex issues clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders
• Effective and credible collaborator with the business across all functions
