This role is for a business segment leader at Protective. The Stable Value Products (SVP) segment has about $10 billion in reserves and is a strong earnings diversifier for the company. The head of SVP will be engaged in strategic decision making for the segment as well as interactions across the company on budgeting, planning, and reporting needs. The role also includes supporting the company’s overall debt capital market (DCM) strategy and remaining actively engaged on general capital market developments and product innovations. About 10%-15% of work travel may be required for this role.

Protective is committed to growing through both our retail and acquisition segments.  This growth will introduce new challenges as well as opportunities.  This role will be expected to support strategic initiatives of the company, especially those related to treasury and DCM. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stable Value Products segment: 
  • Responsible for strategic development, planning, and execution of SVP’s business plan
  • Learn and direct the best way to optimize cost of funds for the SVP segment that aligns with plan objectives
  • Lead the process, including needed due diligence and market execution, for issuing a funding agreement backed-note, funding agreement, and guaranteed investment contracts
  • Work closely with FP&A and accounting teams to develop SVP’s annual business segment plan, quarterly projections process, and earnings reporting processes
  • Provide updates, as needed, on segment performance to senior management

  • Debt Capital Markets
  • Develop ongoing knowledge of company’s financial leverage trends and debt capital market needs
  • Work closely with other members of the Treasury team on liquidity analysis and optimal access to capital markets for the holding company
  • Develop pricing tools for company’s debt capital market issuances, and support execution on holding company issuances
  • Develop a high-level understanding of rating agency debt and hybrid methodology
  • Provide updates on debt capital markets, and advise the Treasury team on potential capital market solutions

  • Relationships Management
  • Remain engaged with banking partners on debt capital markets
  • Support regular outreach to fixed-income investors

  • Talent Management
  • Ability to develop and train employees will be an essential skill 
  • Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience related to either issuing, underwriting, or syndicating debt capital market products preferred
  • Knowledge of funding agreement backed notes and funding agreements
  • Ability to quickly learn job responsibilities, if previous direct work experience isn’t available
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong analytical skills with significant attention to detail and accuracy
  • Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $170,000 to $260,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees.

    This position also offers additional incentive opportunities [through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance].
