SCOPE and KEY OBJECTIVES
Key Objectives:
To perform technical analyses of reinsurance risks and communicate your findings to fellow actuaries and underwriters. Assist with developing quarterly reserve analysis and prepare recommendations for senior management.
Scope:
Actuary will be given the opportunity to price individual treaties from start to finish with a peer review process at the end where the actuary will be expected to identify and support assumptions.
Lines of business include: Auto; Casualty; Workers Compensation; Professional Liability; Property; and Accident & Health. Actuary will also be involved in presenting findings to the underwriters and management and provide qualitative input. Also actuary will become familiar with actuarial database and work with claims and underwriting to prepare comprehensive view of loss reserves.
This position reports directly to the Chief Actuary.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Pricing of reinsurance treaties for both property and casualty lines of business
• Developing expertise in specific lines of business and develop models, parameters and various other pricing tools to be used in quantifying risk in these lines
• Preparing in-depth reserve study to analyze current reserve position by line of business
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• 10+ years of reinsurance or large account property and casualty pricing experience.
• Successful completion of ACAS/FCAS
• Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to present actuarial concepts to underwriters and management
• Strong computer skills - knowledge of Excel, Visual Basic and SQL
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Strong programming knowledge - ability to program in SQL
