Primary Responsibilities
- Meet experience study and experience monitoring deliverables for Variable Annuity (VA) business
- Perform financial reporting & analysis, meeting monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting deliverables for VA business
- Support standard and ad-hoc assessments and projects
- Continue to develop and implement process improvements, including Unified Platform (UP) / Projection Model (PM) / Experience Studies (ES) database release testing and sign-off
- Own / provide expertise for any proposed enhancements related to ES database and associated processes
- Apply analytical methods through the use of mathematical and statistical models in assumption reviews, financial analyses, etc. for VA business
- Communicate results of analyses to more senior actuarial team members.
- Actively participates in team and other internal meetings
The person in this role may also be eligible to be a member of Cigna's Actuarial Executive Development Program (AEDP). As a member of this program you will develop through rotational opportunities in core actuarial areas such as pricing, reserving, forecasting, and risk management. Additionally, program associates explore opportunities in areas such as data & analytics, investment management, operations, and underwriting. A typical experience consists of 3-4 rotations, lasting 18-24 months, totaling a full program length of 5-7 years. After graduating from the program, you can continue to rotate throughout the organization in different roles to further grow your career.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Mathematics or other related field strongly preferred
- 1-2+ years of actuarial, data analytics or related experience, with exposure to variable annuity business strongly preferred.
- Outstanding technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Must be detail-oriented and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with Excel, Access, R strongly preferred
- Ability to identify problem areas and take initiative to implement solutions.
- Drive to develop business and actuarial skills through ongoing training
- Variable annuity experience, some actuarial background or progress on actuarial exams in pursuit of ASA strongly preferred

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 70,200 - 117,000 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
