AZRA is a specialty niche reinsurer, domiciled in California and licensed as an admitted insurer in 36 states (including District of Columbia), and is a qualified, accredited, or approved reinsurer in fifteen states. AZRA is a property casualty reinsurer which writes both prospective and legacy reinsurance. AZRA has specific expertise in run-off management of U.S. legacy insurance liabilities. It services Allianz Group affiliates and third parties including third party claims administration of asbestos, environmental, workers compensation, general liability, and construction defect liabilities.

AZRA has approximately 150 employees located nationwide with the majority working on a remote basis.

Position can be remotely based in US, we do have an office in Petaluma, CA if preferred.You are a member of the transactions team responsible for technical analysis and opinion for acquisitions and transactions.What you do:
  • Actuarial Analysis and technical assessment of reinsurance treaty submissions
  • Evaluation of market trends and technical aspects for P&C business
  • Serve as a senior client facing representative for AZRA
  • Oversight of the transaction process, including negotiation.
  • Attend meetings with brokers and clients to discuss reinsurance submissions
  • Alignment of capital and accounting treatment with finance
  • Work with legal team on wordings and contract language
  • Participate in actuarial analysis of legacy portfolios


What You Bring:
  • Must be an actuary with FCAS or MAAA designation
  • At least a bachelor's degree or master's degree in mathematics, finance, economics, engineering.
  • Deep balance sheet and P&L understanding of insurance companies including solvency regimes and US regulatory requirements.
  • 5 or more years of experience in (re)insurance related companies, particularly in an underwriting, finance or transactions related role.
  • Ability to analyze critical transaction or treaty aspects within a short timeframe and provide alternative structures.
  • Experience in the US Workers comp, General Liability, Construction Defect, Professional Liability and Property exposures preferred.
  • High comfort level to manage uncertainty of reinsurance business aspects.
  • Develops and maintains market and portfolio overviews.
  • Strong entrepreneurial and results orientation.
  • Strong technical leadership, cross-cultural and cross-functional skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with flexibility.
  • Strong team player.

We do not offer sponsorship for this position.Base Salary Range $200,000 - $260,000Actual base salary may vary based upon factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity of peers, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual incentive program.
