Our Actuaries are on the frontlines, quantifying risk, pricing insurance and reserving losses for AIG’s major regulated and rated insurance operating companies globally. Portfolio Analytics and Pricing/Reserving Actuaries support AIG’s businesses and are responsible for technical pricing, product development analytics and performance measurement. They collaborate with Marketing, Operations and Financial Management.

About the role

We are seeking an actuarial professional to provide actuarial support for AIG’s specialty lines of business.  Lines of business include Aerospace, Marine, Energy, and Credit Lines.  This unique role will provide a range of experience in both pricing and reserving techniques.  This key role will be highly visible, as you will have the opportunity to interact with the various profit centers, claims departments, and underwriting departments within Specialty.  We are looking for an individual who is internally motivated, intellectually curious, has the ability to manage multiple priorities, and is driven to enhance existing processes.

The job can be located in Philadelphia or Atlanta.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the analysis of US STAT and GAAP reserve estimates, both gross and net of reinsurance.
  • Analyze information to assist in determination of the adequacy of loss and LAE reserves.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external reporting processes and documentation.
  • Assist in the production of key reserving results and analytics to best convey financial results to stakeholders.
  • Perform peer reviews on profitability analyses and provide meaningful feedback to pricing actuaries.
  • Be technically proficient using actuarial techniques/concepts/methodologies in order to both implement and execute actuarial best practices.
  • Support the global actuarial function by building relationships and sharing information in a clear, focused manner while maintaining a positive attitude towards change.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or related area
  • 3+ actuarial exams required
  • 3+ years of actuarial experience in property casualty insurance. Reserving experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Effective time management, planning skills, and business acumen
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, SAS, Python, R, or other programming languages preferred
