In this role you will be a part of the North America Excess Casualty Insurance actuarial pricing team. This role will focus on Middle Markets umbrella and excess casualty support, but may also engage in large commercial cross-product support. You will produce actuarial pricing models, analyses, insights, and tools for Excess Casualty actuaries and underwriters. The role is based in Exton, PA, USA however the business is written in offices throughout the United States.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Support development, testing, calibration, and maintenance of umbrella and excess casualty pricing tools. Support maintenance of complex rating algorithms including pricing parameters studies, pricing change impact analysis, and documentation.
- Pricing tool data collection oversight, analysis, quality checking, and reporting.
- Conduct competitor studies to support strategy development, financial planning and business decision making.
- Utilize pricing tools and actuarial acumen to produce account-specific pricing guidance accurately, timely, completely, and with reasonable self-direction. Collaborate with other actuaries when forming pricing guidance. Effectively communicate selections to underwriters.
- Micro portfolio management activities including selection of base loss ratio for business planning, profitability studies & deep dives, dashboard maintenance, and post-event loss evaluations.
- Engage closely with teams to improve pricing accuracy including but not limited to: Governance, CUO, Underwriting, Reserving, Claims, Models & Analytics, IT, Compliance, etc.
- Ad hoc projects to improve the quality of data that is used in pricing analysis.
- Training of underwriters, more junior actuaries, etc. in pricing matters.

We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Applied Math, Statistics, or related field
- Motivated, strategic thinker with a robust collaborative work ethic and a focus on quality and integrity
- Proficiency in Excel
Desired Skills and Abilities:
- Material experience of non-life insurance pricing or reserving
- Qualification level - Qualified or near qualified actuary
- Pricing support of middle market, commercial lines pricing, and/or small commercial (CMP or BOP)
- Proficiency gathering and analyzing Verisk's ISO circulars (including but not limited to trend and ILFs), ISO loss cost database, familiarity with the commercial lines manual and ISO experience rating plan
- Programming proficiency in Python, R, or SQL
- Familiarity with various Department of Insurance (DOI) state filings and regulations. Experience in preparing, submitting, and managing compliance with state filings.
- Leadership skills to work collaboratively with colleagues to build consensus
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as attention to detail
- Excellent influencing and negotiating skills utilizing effective verbal and written communication
- Adaptable to new challenges and proactive for innovative problem solving
- Good organizational, time management and prioritization skills

The U.S. pay range for this position is USD 94,500 - 142,000. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual's skills, experience, and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues' pay.
