Overview
This Senior Assistant Actuary is responsible for supporting Transformation and Modernization initiatives involving portfolio management, profitability, and financial planning life cycle processes for Commercial Insurance.
The role is based in Whitehouse Station, NJ and reports to the Data, Systems, & Transformation Lead for CI Actuarial. There is flexibility to fill this position in either our Philadelphia, PA or Jersey City, NJ locations. Additionally, we are open to hiring candidates with less than 8 years of experience at a lower job grade.
Duties And Responsibilities
Work closely with Line of Business Actuaries and Product Line Leads to:
- Serve as a key resource in growing our portfolio management support function.
- Develop and implement actuarial metrics and KPIs to monitor and support business strategy, ensuring alignment with company objectives and providing actionable insights for decision-making.
- Develop dashboards and applications to serve internal and external actuarial stakeholders.
- Work with the IT/Data teams to assist maintenance of the modernization framework and to build more efficient and robust data platforms.
- Report and communicate findings while delivering work products in a timely fashion.
- Special projects and other ad-hoc requests.
Qualifications
- BS Degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance or a related field.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in actuarial pricing, reserving, or related field.
- Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- High-level proficiency in a programming language such as Python or R.
- Strong familiarity with SQL.
- Keenness for data (collection, manipulation, report design, sensibility checks, and attention to detail).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively communicate ideas.
- ACAS/FCAS preferred.
