This position will be based in Whitehouse Station NJ and support Chubb's Personal Risk Services (PRS) Property section of the Actuarial Department. This group is responsible for providing the financial analysis necessary for Chubb to sustain profitability and maintain a competitive position within the personal lines market. Expect significant interaction with Product, State Filings, and IT, as well as contact with our Corporate actuaries, Underwriting, and Claims.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead development and implementation efforts for a new Homeowners By Peril rating plan using the "Radar Live" software application by working closely with other areas of PRS (ex: Product Management, I/T, Data Sciences, etc.)
- Coordinate with IT and Project Management to ensure broader requirements are understood (including data and downstream needs) and that appropriate ownership, accountability and timelines are in place for a successful overall implementation of the rating plan(s).
- Provide strategic direction to the offshore actuarial team who is responsible for rating algorithm programming. Ensure that appropriate testing plans, governance controls and recovery structures are in place as it pertains to the actuarial-owned components of the rating plan(s).
- Drive long term PRS strategy to externalize existing rating plans into more modern platforms. Establish processes and structure that are scalable for multiple state implementations and allow for more efficient rate updates in the future. Lead efforts to harness the power of Radar in support of actuarial analysis.
- Collaborate with product managers to develop detailed rate level changes on a state by state basis. Quantify impacts of rate change proposals and communicate findings to management via clearly laid out reports, presentations and exhibits. Convert existing Excel based tools to Radar to enable more efficient rating analysis and implementation.
- Produce state-level Homeowners rate indications and present key findings to actuarial and business management.
- Provide actuarial support for rate filings.
- Contribute to the improvement, creation, and/or implementation of processes to expand capabilities, improve efficiency, modernize tools, and enhance overall effectiveness.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of five (5) years of insurance industry pricing experience, preferably in Personal lines.
- Actuarial designation (ACAS or FCAS) preferred
- Experience with developing automated rating calculations in tools such as Radar, Python, SAS or similar is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide clear and concise verbal and written communications of analyses, financial results, and work products.
- Highly detail oriented with excellent organization skills along with the ability to maintain adequate documentation and record keeping.
- Ability to work independently and recommend/formulate innovative solutions when confronted with new problems.
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or similar technical discipline.
