This position is a Commercial market role supporting the Capitol (DC, MD & VA) market. This role is a member of a team supporting the local market as a strategic partner and as an actuarial expert. Functions include:
- Working with several business functions (Sales, Medical Management, Network, Contracting, Product, Finance, Underwriting) to develop strategy and monitor performance
- Devising responsible pricing strategies to help grow membership
- Working collaboratively with regional functional team members to reflect market input for pricing and forecasting
- Becoming an expert in data resources, and completing experience studies; identifying opportunities for additional analysis
- Understanding the competitive landscape and how competitor prices and products compare to Aetna
- Communicating clearly to various audiences including non-technical individuals and senior management
- Working to streamline processes and to identify and implement best practices
Due to the annual rate review cycles, it is critical to the development of the student and the full functioning of our team for the student to fill a 24 month rotation.

This position also supports the functional work for Large Group Forecasting. This will include work that focuses on optimizing tools and processes for the rest of the team for the forecasting central function. (for example, working with the greater actuarial insured team on needs and developing central tools around how to streamline this function).
The person on this role will also be responsible for rate review support, implementation, rate filings, and forecasting support for their markets, enabling a true start to finish view of actuarial work.

Required Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of actuarial experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Successful completion of 1 or more Society of Actuaries Exams
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite; proficiency in Excel
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Solid technical/analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with constant change


Preferred Qualifications
  • Successful completion of 2 or more Society of Actuaries Exams
  • Experience with SQL, SAS, and/or VBA


Education
  • Bachelor's degree


Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$46,988.00 - $112,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
