Equitable is looking for a dynamic Senior Actuary to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for the actuarial modeling of Individual Retirement Guaranteed Protection Solutions (GPS). This is a first line role reporting to the GPS Team Lead. This position is Flexible, working in office and remotely from either our New York City or Charlotte, NC office.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Build new model methodologies/capabilities to evaluate new products & features
- Performing projections, analyze, summarize, and communicate results
- Clearly document all model and assumptions changes and processes
- Provide key metrics (VNB, IRR, ROA, etc.) with regard to proposed product designs through the use of actuarial models
- Collaborating with other IR Squads and Finance/Risk Management teams regarding product development projects and develop experience studies for assumption setting
- Prepare documents for and communicate with Risk Management regarding PAP and RWST assumption setting
- Interaction with corporate actuarial (model development) team for new products or iterations to ensure value metrics are understood and consistent.
- Develop and propose pricing assumptions based on experience, actuarial judgment, and new product design features
- Coordinate with Product Development team on all Individual Retirement pricing projects and participate in designing new products and changes to existing products and features
- Apply/implement new metrics in the managing of the book and be the business advocate in the evaluation of behavior and how it applies to profitability
The base salary range for this position is $135,000-$175,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- FSA (or near FSA) designation
- 3+ years of professional actuarial work experience
- Working experience or knowledge of dynamic hedge program & strategy including derivative pricing, General Account investment implications (annuities, bond pricing, cost of capital, ALM)
- Demonstrated understanding of financial reporting, key metrics (US GAAP and/or Stat/EEM)
Preferred Qualifications
- Liability expertise and/or asset-liability modeling experience, especially regarding Annuity products
- Exposure to leading actuarial projection systems, in particular GGY AXIS and MG-Hedge.
- Successful interpersonal/relationship management skills with both actuarial and business personnel.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to research complex accounting issues independently and provide recommendations.
- Self-starting with strong organization skills and the ability to manage either a process or a team and handle multiple competing priorities in a demanding environment. Ability to prioritize and direct the activities of others as needed.
- Ability to review work of peer squad members and junior actuarial staff and provide clear feedback including ability to facilitate learning and development through individual and team coaching
- Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills to all levels of the organization including both actuarial/financial and business personnel
- Strong understanding of actuarial principles and analysis.
