What You Will Do: As a Senior Actuary, you will analyze and provide strategic insight into the management of Transamerica's Financial Assets annuity block. You will use technical and leadership skills, along with product knowledge and strategic thinking, to design and lead initiatives to maximize the value of our annuity products.

What You Will Learn: You will learn, in detail, the features and designs of Transamerica's Variable Annuity and Fixed Annuity products. You will learn to think creatively and develop unique and impactful solutions to manage the annuity block. You will build and maintain strong relationships across Transamerica, and become an expert on past products, capital requirements, and how Transamerica manages its business.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and lead initiatives to evaluate and optimize the performance of a variety of annuity blocks.
  • Develop, propose and lead creative solutions to efficiently manage product performance and capital allocation.
  • Analyze Transamerica's Variable Annuity fund lineup and propose and implement changes to better meet customer needs and enhance product performance.
  • Coordinate with teams across departments to execute on key organizational priorities.
  • Demonstrate and reinforce Financial Assets' reputation as subject matter experts.
  • Expand the modeling and technical capabilities of the Financial Assets Annuities team.
  • Monitor the emerging performance of key products and anticipate future challenges and opportunities.
  • Monitor and analyze developments in actuarial techniques, laws and regulations applicable to company operations, and competitive developments in the marketplace.
  • Exercises significant judgement in setting priorities and determining necessary tasks.
Qualifications:
  • FSA or equivalent professional designation along with bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field, and 8 years of relevant experience.
  • In lieu of Bachelor's, will accept Masters in a listed discipline and 6 years relevant experience.
  • In lieu of FSA will accept ASA or equivalent professional designation and 14 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrates high quality leadership, judgment, organization and prioritization skills.
  • Exhibits effective management skills to motivate and develop a staff.
  • Effectively communicates, both verbally and in writing, advanced mathematical and analytical concepts to various audiences.
  • Works well under pressure and within time constraints to effectively accomplish individual and team objectives.
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Experience with ALFA, SQL, VBA, Alteryx would be a plus.
Working Conditions:
  • Normal office environment.
  • Limited travel may be required.
The US salary for this position generally ranges between $150,000 - $180,000 annually. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.

Additionally in the US, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company's discretion.
