Overview
Gallagher Re is looking for a Senior Cyber Pricing Actuary to provide actuarial support to Gallagher's reinsurance Brokers and Clients. The role will be dedicated to our Cyber team. This role will be primarily based in New York City and offers a hybrid office-remote environment.
The role is aimed at actuaries with 5+ years' of relevant experience having achieved their FCAS designation. The role will be tailored to the appropriate experience level and will report to the Head of US Cyber Analytics.
How you'll make an impact
The Gallagher Re Cyber Analytics team currently offers a range of services including, but not limited to:
- Exposure and experience based pricing; proportional and non-proportional reinsurance
- Reinsurance Structure modelling; stochastic modelling to investigate impact of reinsurance structures P&L, Balance Sheet and Capital Requirements.
- Optimisation; capital efficiency and return from using reinsurance structures for both prospective and retrospective liabilities.
- Benchmarking; compilation, analysis and presentation of product and sector benchmarking.
- Research and development; current areas of focus include Outside-In scanning, inflation and cyber loss reserving.
- Cyber CAT Modelling; using commercially available Cyber models to evaluate client portfolios
The role encompasses interaction with clients (including tenders / RFPs) and Gallagher Re brokers. The successful individual will provide input and participate in the development of new opportunities and renewals. The role will also assist the team in developing new and existing analytics tools and modelling capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing US team focusing on a high profile product within the (re)insurance industry.
Core Responsibilities
- To lead analytics for cyber reinsurance placements.
- To effectively communicate analytics work with clients and reinsurers.
- To ensure effective and structured verbal and written communication, with the ability to present information in a clear manner and contribute to meetings as required.
- To use best practices and knowledge to identify efficiencies and process improvements within projects assigned, and to solve problems as required.
- To develop in-house cyber expertise through research and development projects.
- To develop and automate new and existing modelling processes.
Skills, knowledge and experience
- Excellent mathematical & statistical competency. Experience handling and analysing data.
- Excellent programming skills - R or Python. Interview process will include a coding test.
- Good attention to detail.
- Knowledge of common insurance products, reinsurance knowledge preferable but not essential.
- Knowledge of cyber insurance industry ideal but not required
- A 'can do' attitude and the ability to work across different teams in a transversal manner.
- Personable, enthusiastic, ability to summarise and explain key drivers of complex situations in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to manage competing priorities within the Gallagher Re Analytics team.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Management experience a plus.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's degree; 8 years of related experience.
- FCAS Designation
- 6+ years' experience in a supervisor or management role or comparable internal experience.
- Proven multi-level relationship building skills, internally and externally.
- Strong leadership, negotiation and management ability.
- Excellent oral and written communication ability with superior presentation skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving capabilities.
