This role focuses on financial reporting and analysis of the Fixed Deferred and Payout Annuity blocks, which includes production modelling & analysis, model testing, control maintenance & development, and management reporting. This position will coordinate with cross functional areas (reinsurance, accounting, finance, investments, etc.) to ensure business needs of both internal and external reinsurance counterparties are met and fully accounted for. The role is located in Hartford, CT, though potential exists for remote arrangement.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Financial reporting and valuation for Fixed Deferred & Payout Annuities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting under U.S. GAAP, statutory and tax bases:
- Monthly updating of reserving metrics using Triton valuation model, analysis of results, production of required exhibits due to external reinsurance counterparties
- Quarterly financial reporting and support for cost of funds analysis
- Assist with control performance, review, and documentation
- Provide audit support for internal and external auditors
- Maintain robust model and process documentation
- Support completion of annual statement, 10K, rating agency surveys, and other external reporting requirements
- Analysis & communication of in-force metrics & trending, particularly in regard to evolving regulatory landscape and anticipated impacts to liabilities
- Driving continuous improvement of financial reporting & modelling processes
- User acceptance testing for evolving modelling requirements in both Triton (valuation model) and AXIS (ALM model)
- Support for CFT, operations planning, investment management, and external reinsurance reporting
- Support for experience analysis (mortality, lapse, etc.) and assumption development
- Support of initiatives to manage & grow the company's administered blocks of business.
- Strengthen collaborative relationships with other key business partners including Model Development, Finance, Accounting Operations, and Internal Audit.
- Mentor junior actuaries and other team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or related field.
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) strongly preferred.
- At least 5 years of work experience in insurance or finance, including involvement with actuarial valuation & modeling
- Proficiency with GGY Axis modeling software strongly preferred
- Insightful knowledge of Fixed Annuity products is strongly preferred.
- Strong technical skills and diligence for the purposes of reviewing model results, improving processes, and solving complex problems.
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels within the organization as well as external partners.
- Self-reliant and capable of quickly learning new concepts, thinking creatively and critically, agile, and adaptable to changing needs and challenges of a quickly growing company.
- Results-oriented and able to work under tight deadlines in a collaborative environment.
