A Brief Overview
The Senior Actuarial Assistant, performs pricing analysis and management information reporting for Global Catastrophe business. Develops, maintains, analyzes and enhances underlying processes, reports, and tools. Coordinates and communicates with internal partners routinely and represents the department on project teams.
What you will do
- Prices Catastrophe reinsurance requests for proposals (RFPs) and seeks retrocession support as needed. Conducts other analysis such as probable maximum loss (PML) studies.
- Assists in developing, documenting, maintaining, and improving Catastrophe actuarial models.
- Contributes to the development, documentation, maintenance, and enhancement of processes, reports, and tools. Coordinates these activities as assigned.
- Serves as a liaison with valuation, corporate, pricing, administration, systems, accounting, audit, and finance associates as well as occasional external client contacts.
- Participates in department or cross-functional projects as needed and called upon.
- Assists with communication of financial analytics and results.
- Performs regular management reporting work for assigned business. Investigates unexpected changes and tracks unresolved issues. Ensures these items are appropriately documented and communicated. Summarizes the information in reports.
- Provides value added services and reinsurance pricing support for other U.S. Group Re products, as needed.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance or other relevant field
- 2+ years of actuarial experience
- Preliminary actuarial exams complete with recent history of student actuarial participation and progress
- Preferred: 3+ years of actuarial and/or life (re)insurance experience
- Associate, Society of Actuaries (ASA)
- Reinsurance background
- Pricing or modeling experience
- Required: Ability to compile, analyze, refine, and interpret financial data/results and model projections.
- Basic comprehension of actuarial and accounting concepts.
- Advanced Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Advanced PC and programming languages skills, particularly in R and VBA.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to work effectively with different disciplines, including pricing, finance, accounting, systems, and administration.
- Strong intercultural skills with the ability to interact with internal partners across countries.
- Complex investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced organizational skills with a detail-oriented ability to document, track and follow up on items.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and deliverables while meeting tight deadlines.
- Ability to construct and recommend changes to processes and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and to work well within a team environment and participate in department projects.
- Demonstrates initiative and accountability.
- Flexible and adaptive to change.
- Preferred: Advanced PC and technical skills, including Tableau and programming in Python or other languages.
- Multilingual, particularly in Spanish or French.

Compensation Range:
$123,500.00 - $184,050.00 Annual
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
