Overview

AmTrust Financial has an opening on the Programs Pricing Actuarial team. This team supports an over $800m inforce book and analyzes new program opportunities on a regular basis. This position will regularly interact with actuarial leadership and collaborates closely with our partners in underwriting and program management. In addition to actuarial work, this team improves existing processes and techniques and develops new processes and techniques.

This role can sit hybrid out of Southington, CT or New York, NY.

Responsibilities

  • Profitability Analyses: Conduct regularly scheduled profitability studies by Program and Line of Business for AmTrust’s Program business. Identify segments for growth and segments requiring remediation and propose solutions to return segments to profitability or to maintain profitability. Evaluate new program opportunities and partner with Underwriting, Compliance, Claims, and Legal to onboard new programs.

  • Monitoring: Monitor the Programs book to identify and develop new monitoring to create timely targeted rate and underwriting actions to drive profits for AmTrust and our business partners.

  • Deliver Results: Communicate results of pricing analyses to actuarial leadership, underwriting, and our external business partners. Work to ensure maximum profitability by understanding individual programs and developing, implementing, and monitoring underwriting actions such as changing the mix of the book and targeted pricing actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial, Math, Economics, Statistics, or similar field requiring significant quantitative analysis.
  • 2-4 years of Actuarial experience for a commercial property-casualty insurance company and actively pursuing CAS exams.
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel as it applies to actuarial analysis such as triangles and rate indications.
  • Excellent communication and people skills with the ability to effectively communicate with actuarial peers, actuarial leadership, underwriting, and external business partners.
  • Experience in pricing all or any of the following lines of business: Auto, GL, Property, Professional Liability, and Umbrella.

Preferred

  • Experience with SQL code including the ability to query datasets and to understand and modify existing code.
  • Experience with state filings including submitting filings, responding to objections, and searching for competitor filings.
  • Pricing experience on WC, MedMal, and Umbrella.

The salary range for this role is $88,000 - $115,000/year. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics.
