Position Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in enhancing rating processes, portfolio management, and technical ratemaking within a dynamic underwriting and actuarial environment. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including underwriting leadership and actuarial professionals, and will have responsibilities in three core areas: 1) support and develop rating tools by maintaining, improving, and ultimately leading rater implementation, 2) conduct research and technical analyses to refine rate plans, identify new rating variables, and explore innovative ratemaking opportunities, and 3) contribute to portfolio management through rate monitoring, adequacy assessments, and strategic due diligence to support sustainable business growth.

This role will be hybrid, with flexible arrangement possible in the long run for exceptional candidates.

What will your job entail?

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Gain hands-on experience with raters by supporting, updating, and expanding their functionality, ultimately leading the development of a rater from the ground up.
  • Assist in integrating rating tools into the production and underwriting process, collaborating with underwriters to enhance rating methodologies and efficiency.
  • Conduct research, ad hoc projects to review and update rate plans, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities, and propose rating enhancements to improve underwriting intelligence and profitability.
  • Support portfolio management and reporting, including rate change monitoring, adequacy assessments, and due diligence analysis to ensure portfolio performance and sustainable growth.
  • Partner with senior underwriting leaders and teams to develop business acumen, deepen knowledge of lines of business, and conduct ad-hoc deep dive analyses as needed to help identify key profit and loss drivers for an insurance portfolio.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related field with 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of the Property & Casualty insurance business.
  • Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS), or solid progress to such with at least 4 CAS Exams passed.
  • Experience with Pricing in Commercial lines, specifically in Excess & Specialty, preferred.
  • Experience with D&O, PL, Cyber, Media, or Renewable Energy lines preferred.
  • Experience in modeling and/or quantitative research in any discipline, with demonstrated projects in machine learning and predictive modeling/econometrics preferred.
  • Strong technology skills including in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power BI) and programming/data manipulation (SQL, R/Python, Alteryx).

The target salary range for this position is $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 annually.

The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
