Key duties and responsibilities
- Support actuarial modeling projects at SCOR US, such as annual assumption updates and quarterly inforce management projects and be a key contributor to other company-wide strategic projects.
- Support and advocate a culture of learning and innovation within the team to deliver and enhance tools, processes, and metrics that advance the understanding of our business and optimize the team's efficiencies.
- Perform financial impact assessment and support the explanation of financial results and business impacts to senior leadership team at SCOR.
- Enhance and improve current actuarial modeling and reporting processes, convert targeted business onto actuarial models, and support regular model releases.
- Communicate actuarial analyses and results to business unit management.
- Provide support to other areas such as accounting, FP&A, and data management.
- Complete governance documentation and deliver results through the governance process.
- Ensure that appropriate and auditable controls, reconciliations and documentation are maintained with respect to valuation, economic reporting and modeling.
- Partner with valuation and reporting teams, working closely on model and process improvements and enhancements for actuarial reporting.
- Build and maintain relationships with colleagues throughout the SCOR Group.
- Complete special assignments and projects for the department as necessary.
- Provide occasional support for quarterly production work, where needed.
Qualifications
Required Experience & Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field with demonstrated record of academic excellence.
- Actively pursuing associateship designation from the Society of Actuaries (or equivalent)
- Must have 3+ years actuarial experience with financial valuation, modeling, cash flow analysis in the insurance or reinsurance industry.
- Technically astute within the actuarial discipline and industry software applications.
- Expertise in IFRS, Solvency II (or similar economic value reporting method), preferably for traditional life type products.
- Experience with life and annuity products.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal, written, and relationship-building.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, maintaining an agile mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to understand complex models and perform valuation and analyses to deliver required results.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement departmental processes and controls and ensure appropriate documentation.
- Able to balance the need for continuous improvement with the rigor and controls required of a valuation function responsible for producing key inputs to the financial statements.
- Experience with actuarial modeling software (Prophet preferred), database, and reporting tools.
- Experience with workflow tools like Alteryx, or scripting language like Python a plus.
- Experience with BI and analytics tools, e.g. Tableau.
