The Sales Actuarial & Analytics Managing Director role is an opportunity for a proven leader to own and execute a vision for how applied data, analytics, tools and actuarial analytics and advisory can maximize Cigna's revenue and earnings performance by better enabling information driven sales & distribution operations to better sell and retain business.
This role will work collaboratively with our Sales & Distribution business stakeholders to provide strategic thought partnership in analytics, build and prioritize an operational roadmap and develop required analytics solutions that leverage data science and technology to embed analytics into our sales & distribution workflows.
Will be responsible for the execution of work in support US Commercial markets which includes Medical, Pharmacy, and Behavioral solutions across all Employer segments. Will need to understand our growth priorities and opportunities by working closely with segment, geographic and Enterprise level business partners to ensure the right informatics solutions (e.g. data, reporting or analytics) are developed and operationalized.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute to developing an Enterprise sales & distribution strategy and roadmap in partnership with segment, geography and Enterprise business partners.
- Craft long-term vision for establishing more intelligent sales & distribution capabilities via the application of increasingly advanced analytics, builds necessary internal alignment around target/ interim state approaches, and participate in defining and supporting end user change management activities.
- Provide leadership oversight and guidance to consultant & sales analytics, engage with network contracting, affordability leadership and sales organization to accelerate Cigna's affordability goals.
- Oversee network discount submissions to actuarial consulting firms and ensure results are appropriately reflected in competitive analysis tools used by the firms.
- Possess and develop strong relationships with external actuarial consultant community.
- Influence industry guidelines for network discount analysis and healthcare cost measurement.
- Own and execute analytics strategy and solutions roadmap for our business stakeholders, including valuing solution alternatives, coordinating/sequencing dependencies, development of necessary business cases, and acquisition of capital investment as necessary.
- Oversees several cross-functional teams responsible for developing analytics capabilities, data strategy and tools.
- Specific solution responsibilities include:
- Develop and refine targeting analytics to enable local sales teams to better deploy distribution resources toward employers that best align to Cigna's value proposition, and develop a multi-year action plan to target Producers and Employers within each local market.
- Develop and refine Producer segmentation analytics to better align Cigna resources to the highest value channels.
- Oversee the generation of analytics to understand the performance of sales and distribution teams, as well as, test the effectiveness of novel ideation through test and learn.
- Build monitoring and managerial routines to evaluate the impact of deployed analytics, identify local best practices, and iterate analytics models and business processes accordingly. Responsible for Cigna's analytics data strategy for Buyer, Producer, and related attributes.
- Key contributor to Cigna's Enterprise data strategy related to Buyers and Intermediaries, working closely with business stakeholders.
- Responsible for R&D, pilot, & prototype development across key analytic areas, including but not limited to, business intelligence/reporting, advanced trend analytics, root cause statistical analyses, and predictive modeling.
- Leads an integrated business analytics and actuarial consulting team of 40 with four direct reports.
- Define the talent strategy required to achieve business needs; providing individual and team leadership to business analytics and data science team to ensure they are growing their capabilities and achieving their career goals.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- 10 - 20 years industry experience solving business problems through the application of analytic approaches, prior experience supporting sales & distribution processes preferred but not required.
- Fellow in the Society of Actuaries (FSA) preferred.
- Experience in healthcare, health services, employer-based actuarial consulting, network discount analysis as well as data and analytics strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in understanding statistical analysis for purposes of guiding and overseeing Business Analytics work.
- Combination of analytical, technical and business acumen.
- Proven track record for success in leading high-performing teams in a matrixed environment.
- Demonstrated thought leadership on challenging problems with examples of implementing innovative analytic solutions and driving outstanding results.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in complex matrix organizations and agile teams.
- Blend creativity, relentless problem-solving, business acumen, and leadership to drive innovation through analytics working with Innovation team.
- Strong verbal/written communication and leadership skills to work with various matrix partners, including but not limited to actuarial, medical economics, business, marketing, and engineering.
- Ability to manage a vision and purpose with various business stakeholders and analytics teams.
- Effective leadership, prioritization and management of complex deliverable portfolio in a dynamic environment.
