Your Team The North America Product Governance Team helps support and implement AGCS global Product Life Cycle & Innovation efforts in North America and is responsible for product governance including North American rate, rule and form compliance efforts, working closely with North American Legal and Government & Regulatory Affairs units.

The Impact You Will HaveReporting to the Head of North America Product Governance as a Regulatory Filing Actuary you are responsible for consulting with line of business experts to develop rates, rules, rating plans, actuarial support, and regulatory filing strategies for new and existing commercial products. Using actuarial experience, knowledge of external market forces, and awareness of industry trends, you will assist management with developing business strategies and with solving complex business problems.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
  • Keeping abreast of leading market practices and driving innovation.
  • Promoting close collaboration and interaction with the various business areas (Group, UW, MM, CFO, etc.) to foster mutual understanding of how business developments impact actuarial drivers in the financials.
  • Managing and driving forward own area of responsibility or project.
  • Preparing Actuarial support, exhibits and memoranda to support rate and rule filings including any required actuarial transmittal forms.
  • Creating and maintaining rating documentation tools.
  • Providing responses for regulatory objections and inquiries including market conduct examinations and rate/rule filings.
  • Assisting in rating audits to validate compliance to rate and rule filings.
  • Reviewing and providing input on changes to laws, regulations and bulletins impacting rating, rate models and pricing.
  • Peer reviewing work from other team members, as well as mentoring and providing guidance to junior team members.


What You'll Bring to the Role
  • Bachelor's Degree (ideally Master's) preferably in Mathematics, Statistics or other appropriate discipline or qualified by experience in related discipline;
  • Accredited member of the Casualty Actuarial Society in good standing or are in progress toward accreditation;
  • 3 years of actuarial pricing experience in the US, including at least 3 years of experience with standard commercial lines rate filings in states with complex actuarial and regulatory requirements;
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with company and Department of Insurance staff;
  • Excellent project management skills, including ability to maintain progress on multiple projects;
  • Extensive computer skills (e.g., MS Office including VBA and relevant expert systems such as Matlab, R, SQL, Java, etc.);
  • Ability to identify patterns and root causes in complex (e.g., ambiguous, from various sources) data and processes to rapidly distill key issues and provide insight in various situations, anticipating and resolving issues before they transpire;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to understand and convey information clearly and effectively with respect to the audience/level of management; and
  • Ability to persuade and motivate others without direct authority.


The annualized base pay range for this role is $97,787 - $167,635. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
