About the Job
- Support specific retrocession requests including tailoring data, processes, and assumptions to align with an intended deal.
- Managing experience studies interactions with prospective counterparties as part of retrocession requests. This includes managing the process to share data, explaining study methodology, and answering questions related to potential transactions.
- Validate client and reinsurance data sets for use in actuarial experience studies and create and review experience study results
- Analyze data, validate results, isolate unusual trends, seek explanation and derive recommendations where necessary and take shortfalls in analysis into account in drawing conclusions
- Perform sign-off and peer reviews for studies produced by the Assumption Development team at-large
- Review and maintain documentation of data and study processes including assumptions and methodology
- Design analytical review process, with selection of appropriate data assumptions and methods and follow established guidelines and best practices for internal and external data management processes which includes appropriate documentation in support of business controls
- Project management of studies with multiple touchpoints
- Drive efficiencies and improvements with respect to speed, accuracy, and completeness of study results
- Build new analyses, studies, and delivery methods to various internal or external stakeholders
- Support assumption development activity and serve as a knowledge expert to internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain and enhance study methodologies and calculations
About You
- Minimum 4-year degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science or related field with proven mathematical skills and analytical ability
- At least 7+ years of actuarial pricing and/or valuation experience in Life Insurance and/or Reinsurance industries with a good knowledge of actuarial concepts and principles
- Ability to review analytical results, derive recommendations and communicate implications to all stakeholders.
- A good understanding of the US market, products, and features
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, or equivalent status in Canada or UK societies
- Programming/software skills such as Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, SQL, and Power BI, SAS, and R
- Shows initiative in identifying data or actuarial related issues and supporting other team members, peers and senior stakeholders
- Cross cultural experience working with colleagues globally and experienced in managing actuarial and/or data works handover processes between teams in different geographical locations
- Demonstrates strong oral and written English communication skills along with strong interpersonal and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently, accurately and deliver to deadlines
