Job Description

Ares is seeking a full-time M&A and reinsurance actuary to join our dynamic and growing Insurance Solutions team. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects from start to finish. Primary functions & Responsibilities
  • Support Aspida's Growth:
    • Collaborate with team members to assess, price & structure M&A and reinsurance transactions (block & flow) to help the Aspida Re platform grow inorganically.
    • Analyze due diligence materials, including actuarial appraisals, CIM, policy forms, CFT memos, and insurance liability cashflows.
  • Apply Expertise:
    • Utilize insurance knowledge (US NAIC, Bermuda BMA, Cayman), accounting (GAAP and Statutory), and liability expertise.
    • Develop transaction or investment committee memos documenting targets, assets, liabilities, diligence findings, and pricing results for senior management, investors, and the Board of Directors.
  • Effective Communication:
    • Clearly communicate business and mathematical concepts embedded in quantitative models and provide thorough model documentation.
    • Maintain strong relationships with Ares insurance and investment professionals, as well as insurance professionals within Aspida.
    • Take external and internal meetings, effectively communicating results and methodologies.
Qualifications

Education:
  • Undergraduate and / or advanced degrees
  • FSA designation or career ASA, or equivalent, preferred


Experience /Skills Required:
  • 10-20 years of actuarial experience.
  • Direct M&A and reinsurance experience, either sell-side or buy-side, preferred.
  • Insurance product knowledge required; annuities products preferred, life insurance product knowledge helpful.
  • Self-starter with intellectual curiosity and the ability to seek a path forward without perfect information.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate complex actuarial concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Understanding of accounting, regulatory, risk management, and strategic frameworks under which insurers operate is highly desirable.
  • Experience with reinsurance structuring and knowledge of different forms of reinsurance is a plus.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to the actuarial team, supporting their professional development and technical expertise.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and experience in understanding and solving complex issues.
  • High level of integrity, enabling the candidate to become a trusted partner to clients and peers.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, making informed decisions under pressure.


Reporting Relationships

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.

$200,000 - $275,000
