The Opportunity:
 

The Global High-Net-Worth (Global HNW) Life Insurance Business was formed in 2023 to leverage Manulife’s enterprise-wide capabilities in serving this customer segmentBy bringing together Manulife Bermuda with Manulife Hong Kong’s and Manulife Singapore’s International Brokerage Channel, the GHNW business can capitalize on the strengths of the three business units to accelerate growth in the HNW and Ultra HNW markets.

The Manulife Bermuda Pricing Officer is highly visible and critical for the implementation of Manulife Bermuda’s top strategic priorities and will report directly into the Chief Solutions Officer. This is an entrepreneurial role, where the individual will operate as a leader, a strategist, and a consultantThe Pricing Officer will Lead the Pricing team, be responsible for all actuarial aspects of new business, provide guidance on pricing decisions, analyze market dynamics and conduct pricing research to create pricing strategies that maximize long-term profitability, adhere to corporate pricing standards, enhance customer value and drive innovation. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead, manage, develop, and motivate diverse, professional team to design, develop, price and implement competitive, profitable and innovative life insurance products in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment 

  • Final responsibility for all actuarial aspects of new business, including profit and risk measures, assumptions, and capital management 

  • Represent Manulife Bermuda Pricing to the rest of the company, both as the main point of contact for senior management and as a participant (and sometimes leader) of cross functional/divisional working groups 

  • Liaise with Distribution and the AVP, Product Management on a wide variety of issues relating to the management of the business.  

  • Lead pricing involvement in all new strategic initiatives 

  • Network with peers in the industry to develop relationships and new sources of market information 

  • Ensure full compliance with Corporate Pricing Standards and all corporate policies 

  • Identifying opportunities and leading or overseeing initiatives to improve the competitiveness, profitability, or capital management of new business 

  • Develop and implement pricing strategies that maximize long-term profitability 

  • Drive innovation in pricing strategies to enhance customer value and market positioning 

  • Collaborate with global teams to share ideas and align pricing strategies with business goals 

  • Align incentives, investments, and resources to support the product strategy 

  • Contribute to the development of long-term product strategies and business growth initiatives 
     

Knowledge / Skills / Competencies: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or related field; advanced degree preferred 

  • Proven leadership experience in actuarial pricing and strategy development 

  • Creative thinker with an innovative, growth-oriented mindset 

  • Strategic thinking and the ability to create to product strategies and roadmaps 

  • Superior leadership skills with ability to motivate and influence associates at all levels and at a distance 

  • Strong understanding of actuarial concepts and methods 

  • Ability to conduct pricing research and provide data-driven recommendations 

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards for pricing 

  • Collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

Boston, Massachusetts

Salary range is expected to be between

$148,400.00 USD - $275,500.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
