The Pricing Actuary will be responsible for maintaining and improving upon a
subset of the technical raters used throughout Markel Specialty. The role will
be highly collaborative working with data scientists, underwriters and IT to
improve and maintain pricing models.

Job Responsibilities

• Work closely with Underwriters and Product Line Leaders to understand the business needs and create analytical solutions
• Work closely with IT on implementing rater enhancements
• Highly organized and responsible for owning the rater update cycle and ensuring raters are constantly updated to reflect our latest view of the risk
• Identify and rectify raters that do not meet best practices
• Communicate results to end-users

Work Skills

• Excel expert (VBA a plus)
• Familiar with GLM modeling for insurance rate-making
• Experience with simulation based modeling a plus
• SQL and PowerBI a plus

The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. The salary for the position is $113,900K - $170K with a 35% bonus potential.
