Scope of the Role:
The Pricing Actuary and data scientist will report into the Home Office Actuarial team. The role will support essential actuarial functions such as rating model development, portfolio review, large account pricing, technical rate development and profitability testing for the International A&H business across Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America and Japan.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with all lines of business within International A&H including the Direct Marketing, Digital, Broker/Agent and Leisure Travel businesses. They will work with a wide range of business counterparts to execute business objectives.
The scope of the role includes but is not limited to rating model development, testing and impact analysis, improving data management efficiency, and setting up technical standards for regional offices.
Accountabilities:
• Support price optimisation initiatives. Actively participate in revenue maximisation related projects.
• Improve rating sophistication across all lines of business. Identify new rating factors and improve the control and consistency of existing models.
• Set up data management tools (exposure earning, loss cost modelling, automating data files etc) to improve the efficiency in data analysis.
• Work with local underwriters to develop technical rates for all lines of business.
• Enhance rate monitoring capabilities.
• Work with actuarial and underwriting counterparts to develop and peer review pricing recommendations for new product launches.
• Support portfolio review and account management initiatives.
• Perform actuarial review of underwriting referrals.
• Train and support regional actuaries as necessary.
Qualifications
This role will require:
• At least 5 to 10 Years of Data Science, Statistics or Actuarial Experience.
• Strong data management and statistical modelling related programming skills in SQL, Python or R.
• Working knowledge in statistical modelling such as GLM, non-linear models, tree-based models.
• Working experience in portfolio management and large account pricing.
• Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an international team, and to cultivate strong working relationships across all functional areas.
• Dynamic and enthusiastic with capacity to work independently and take initiative
- Knowledge of RADAR a plus.
- Working knowledge in A/B-tests or design of experiment (multivariate test plans, define test criteria, strategy, methods) a plus.
• Knowledge of functional areas including distribution, IT and Claims a plus
• 10% travel +/- depending on demand and priorities.
