American National is seeking a Principle-Based Reserves (PBR) Modeling Actuary to join our team. The purpose of the job is to ensure compliance with PBR regulatory requirements (i.e., VM-20, VM-21, (upcoming) VM-22, and VM-31), as well as serve as the company PBR SME supporting others with PBR-related activities.

What You'll Do:
- Enhance and actively participate in model governance activities, including developing formal documentation on the models' operation and methodologies
- Derive the methodology of PBR model assumptions and margins, and oversee their model implementation
- Support the model developers in solutioning proposed model changes, including providing UAT assistance
- Analyze the PBR sensitivity to key drivers, as well as develop an expectation of its future pattern
- Address requests from internal and external auditors, as well as the company's regulators
- Produce PBR Actuarial Reports for all applicable statutory entities
- Optimally implement VM-22 considering both operational and financial efficiency
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, or a related field with a strong mathematical background is required
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation obtained with Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) expected within a year, or currently holds the FSA designation
- 6 or more years of related actuarial analysis
- 3 years of actuarial model development of life and/or annuity lines of business
Preferred Experience:
- 2+ years of model development experience using the Moody's AXIS modeling platform
- 2+ years of experience in PBR financial reporting
- 2+ years of experience setting actuarial model assumptions and margins
- 1+ years of experience of programming with R, Python and/or Excel macros
