As an Actuarial Analyst, you will work with a team of industry professionals on regulatory consulting engagements involving actuarial topics such as pricing, reserving, modeling, and risk management. This position has opportunity for advancement as well as personal and professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate reserve analysis from a regulatory or audit perspective, and in some cases perform detailed independent reserve testing
- Participate in regulatory reviews of rate and form filings
- Understand pricing trends and adequacy that will impact reserve estimates
- Monitor and examine profitability at a granular level
- Monitor rate, exposure, retention, new, lost business changes
- Monitor trends and relevant industry/regulatory changes and effectively communicate to management
- Analyze cost/severity and utilization/frequency data using spreadsheets and databases
- Review, organize and analyze statistical data
- Support analysis of risk exposures, stress testing, and assessment of prospective solvency
- Draft client communications
- Assist with project management
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, or Statistics
- Minimum of 5+ years actuarial experience insurance company, financial services or consulting firm
- Experience with data, financial and insurance analytics, risk analysis, model risk management, insurance pricing, actuarial modeling
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Work well both independently and as part of a team
- Dynamic/flexible demeanor with exceptional client service skills
- Proficiency in Excel, Access, VBA, SAS, R or other programming languages preferred
- Effective time management skill
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interact with all levels including executives and senior managers
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects and assignments
- Forward-thinking with a collaborative focus who can consult effectively with key constituents and become recognized as a valued resource
- Must be self-motivated and possess a sense of urgency
- Ability to demonstrate ethical and professional standards as outlined by the Firm
