Job Summary:
The Standard seeks a Modeling Actuary to join our Corporate Actuarial and Risk Management division. In this role, you will help monitor, assess, and enhance our Axis model processes and execution. You’ll work with a community of Actuarial Modelers and IT staff to build tools and solve technical problems which lead to better user experiences.
To achieve better experiences, you will seek to understand where challenges arise, and user experience is less than desired. Through use of technical tools, you will be taking a data driven approach to identify where change may be beneficial. From there you will identify opportunities and work on projects in an Agile framework to deliver improvements.
This role is centrally located and will work across divisional boundaries to drive progress. Communication and collaboration with modelers spread throughout the company will be important. You will be on a blended team of Actuarial Developers, Actuaries, and IT professionals.
Duties to include:
- Optimize AXIS model run execution in a grid environment.
- Reviewing and analyzing model batch configurations for efficiency.
- Recommending and demonstrating model run time improvements.
- Socializing practice improvements to drive consistency and efficiency.
- GGY EnterpriseLink / GridLink configuration management (in partnership with IT).
- AXIS Grid performance monitoring.
- Investigating ad-hoc user identified questions / issues (e.g. seeing longer run times than normal).
- Partner closely with IT on change implementation and user issue management.
- Support and partner closely with Actuarial Developers, AXIS Modelers, Data Stewards and other technical staff to develop and enhance tools.
- Thought leader on efficiency and effectiveness of modelling.
- Subject Matter Expert on modeling system configuration.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience using Moody’s AXIS, EnterpriseLink and GridLink software.
- Effective collaboration with Actuarial Modelers and IT partners.
- Some prior experience with programming.
Valuable:
- Monitoring and configuring EnterpriseLink and/or GridLink processes and jobs.
- Experience in automation and integration of GGY AXIS with up and downstream systems.
- Programming experience with EnterpriseLink scripts.
- Navigating datasets using the following modules: Annuity, Disability, Asset
- Familiarity with Agile concepts and tools.
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA).

Salary Range:
