Description and Requirements
The Actuarial Associate will be part of a team responsible for the oversight of the MAXIS Global Benefits Network. MAXIS, co-founded by MetLife & AXA in 1998, is one of the leading international employee benefits networks providing global service capabilities and delivering world-class employee benefits perspectives and solutions. Since 2016, the MAXIS structure involves local members writing the business and reinsuring into AXA, with any retained business being retroceded to MetLife Reinsurance of Bermuda (MrB), generally on a 50/50 basis.
The associate will develop a strong understanding of valuation and financial elements of a dynamic and growing business unit. Opportunity to expand into pricing, underwriting and risk management components as well. There will be significant exposure to both internal and external business partners, leading project analytics and communication.
Responsibilities include:
• Actuarial support for the MAXIS joint venture; interaction between MAXIS, AXA and several MetLife entities on the actuarial entries.
• Development and presentation of analysis for the MetLife Bermuda actuarial and finance team to provide certification of the MAXIS reserves, as well as support for their regulatory filings.
• Model creation and validation for Home Office Reinsurance Financials – Actuals, Plan, Projections. Insight of drivers and explanation to management.
• Timely and accurate monthly submission of actuarial balances related to MAXIS arrangement to the Corporate & Other Valuation Unit.
• Critical actuarial and financial support for the monthly, quarterly and annual deliverables for P&L accrual, year end finalization, and C&O projection and planning cycle
• Provide the actuarial support to ensure proper execution of new reinsurance agreements/novations for the MAXIS member/client conversions.
• Review and tracking of captive collateral calculations. Interaction with AXA and MAXIS on the outcome of the calculations and direction to ensure sufficient collateralization exists. Ongoing maintenance and updates of related guidelines.
• Develop skills and contribute on pricing, underwriting and risk appetite matters as they relate to the MAXIS business.
Qualifications:
• 3-5 years of actuarial-related experience. Universtity actuarial degree. Attainment of Society of Actuaries ASA designation a plus.
• Strong computer/technical skills – knowledge of programming languages a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact with internal and external, and non-actuarial business partners.
• Ability to remain organized and retain focus on multiple simultaneous projects.
