Compensation

$156,240 - $186,000

Exempt Grade 20
  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas offers excellent competitive compensation with the goal of retaining and growing talented team members. The compensation range for this role is a good faith estimate, it is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid. All offers presented to candidates are carefully reviewed to ensure fair, equitable pay by offering competitive wages that align with the individual's skills, education, experience, and training. The range may vary above or below the stated amounts.


What you'll do

  • Lead and train team members, providing feedback and professional development and performing evaluations. Coordinating workload and developing unit schedules and performance standards.
  • Develop, maintain, and prepare monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Develop and maintain models for calculating trends and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Respond to ad hoc data requests and maintain the actuarial data repository.
  • Develop various reports and analyses, including cost and use reports, dynamic affordability maps, and pricing-to-actual analyses.
  • Implement effective strategies leveraging vendor solutions for data reporting, providing actionable insights for business decision-making.
  • Support actuarial research and complete surveys and special studies.
  • Maintain documentation and keep the Director of Actuarial, Chief Actuary, and CFO informed on projects.


What you need

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related field required.
  • Associateship or Fellowship designation in the Society of Actuaries (SOA) and membership in the American Academy of Actuaries (AAA) required.
  • Minimum of eight years of actuarial experience pricing or reserving health insurance products
  • Extensive experience with actuarial models, financial forecasting, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Advanced knowledge in applying data analytics, statistical modeling, and predictive techniques to improve accuracy and efficiency in actuarial processes within the health insurance industry.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex actuarial concepts to non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and collaborate with Finance and other departments across the enterprise to drive business objectives.
  • Ability to work in an office environment and use standard office equipment.
  • Occasional travel may be required for meetings, training, or client engagements.
