We’re actively seeking a talented Manager & Associate Actuary to join our Life & Annuities Experience Studies team in Newport Beach, CA; Omaha, NE; or Lynchburg, VA. This role can be on-site, hybrid, or 100% remote.
As a Manager & Associate Actuary, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by leading a team of actuaries and data scientists as well as enhancing our predictive analytics capabilities throughout the product life cycle. You will be directly managing a small number of individuals on the Life Experience Studies team within the CMD Finance, Risk, and Actuarial department.
How you will make an impact:
Provide leadership, guidance, and effective coaching to help develop a team of actuaries and data scientists.
Lead the preparation of experience studies for assumption setting (mostly Life insurance policyholder behavior-related assumptions) and present findings to working groups and senior management committees.
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure assumption approval and successful implementation.
Summarize key insights from Tableau dashboards and report on emerging trends.
Work with external consultants to gather external industry data in order to validate assumptions and benchmark against competitors.
Implement process improvements, automation, and efficiencies where applicable.
Foster collaboration, manage expectations, and effectively communicate project updates, milestones, and risks.
The experience you will bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, other related fields
6+ years actuarial experience
Has an FSA designation OR has an ASA designation with additional years of actuarial experience
Excellent written/verbal communication and leadership skills. Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to various audiences, including senior management.
Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

Working knowledge of life insurance products and experience studies
Experience working with large data sets and data visualization software (e.g. Tableau)

Base Pay Range:
The base pay range noted provides a basis to determine the appropriate offer dependent upon several factors including but not limited to geographic location, experience, skills, education and pay equity. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
