Security Benefit, a leader in the retirement saving and income solutions market, is seeking a student to work in the Valuation Actuarial: Stat Valuation Reporting Team. This position will work in our home office in Topeka, Kansas or our Overland Park, Kansas office. This internship will be an on-site work environment.

What Does the Job Look Like?
  • You will be exposed to many aspects of the company's activities, especially the day-to-day operations of Statutory Valuation for Annuity and life products. This position comes with immense opportunity for personal and professional growth.
  • Assist with updating and improving reports, spreadsheets, and documentation.
  • Conduct data manipulation, organization, and analysis.
  • Validate data and create or update periodic or ad hoc reports.
  • Develop and utilize tools in support of reserve calculations.
  • Take on special projects as assigned.

Who Are You?

Students eligible for the internship will be full-time students, available to work approximately 19 hours per week during the school year. Students will be expected to work during the semester and have the opportunity to work up to full-time in between semesters and during the summer. This is not a summer only internship.
  • Full-time college student pursuing degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Finance or Computer Science at the freshman level or higher.
  • Commitment to pursue an actuarial credential demonstrated by preparation for Society of Actuaries-administered exams or exam credit.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge/skill required.
  • Experience with Visual Basic coding and/or any high-level or object-oriented programming language highly preferred.
  • Experience with SQL coding preferred.
  • Strong GPA in major and in all areas of study.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Accuracy and the ability to be detail oriented.
