The Actuarial Summer Intern will work closely with either the Product Development or Reinsurance teams to provide meaningful actuarial analysis support. The ideal individual will have the ability to manage their time while working closely with their manager on a variety of technical tasks. In this role, you will work on actuarial projects that will have meaningful impacts on products and processes used by M Financial and Member Firms.
This internship occurs June 10th - August 15th
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in modeling and developing a new life insurance product with one of our Partner Carriers
- Assist in enhancing tools and methods for evaluating product competitiveness
- Assist in the development of models to quantify the value of liabilities
- Analyze demographic data for current clients
- Assist in the analysis of existing reinsurance transactions
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of at least sophomore year in college, majoring in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Business, Economics, or other related field
- Experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) preferred
- Aptitude for working with formulas and data
- Good communication skills, positive attitude, and ability to prioritize work on multiple projects
- Passing score on 1+ actuarial exam(s) recommended, but not required
- SQL, VBA or programming experience a plus
JOB CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
- The position is part of either the Product or Reinsurance departments. This position requires collaboration at all levels of the organization and with other members of the Product and Reinsurance Departments.
- This position may work with outside parties, including vendors
- Normal office environment/desk assignment
- Extensive use of PC's, computer terminal, display, keyboard, and mouse
- Extensive hands-on work with documents, spreadsheets, and other written documents
