This is a 10-week summer internship from June 2, 2025 and ending August 8, 2025. Interns will typically work a 5-day workweek at 38.75 hours / week. Interns work with their department supervisor to determine weekly schedules. Interns must commit to the 10-week program for the summer and participate in planned training and activities.
Internship Position Description
The Actuarial Intern assists in developing actuarial analyses in accordance with CAS (Casualty Actuarial Society) principles. These analyses will contribute to the overall performance of the actuarial area. The Actuarial Analyst will learn how to make changes necessary to keep the analyses up-to-date and free of errors.
Department-specific responsibilities, project description, deliverables
Support pricing analyses for selected property and casualty insurance products offered by MAPFRE Insurance. Such analyses may include updating analyses relative to the pricing of new or revised coverages, and analyzing other changes in product pricing (class plans, amount of insurance relativity curves, etc).
- Able to learn from errors and keep manager up to date with progress reports
- Actively listens during trainings and asks "why" questions on a regular basis when learning new skills.
- Perform other actuarial analyses on an ad-hoc basis, by reaching out to collaborate with peers during downtime.
- Retrieve and manipulate basic data
- Pursue exams on the CAS syllabus
College Level Preferred
- Undergraduate (Rising Junior/Senior)
- Graduate Student (Final Year)
Majors and/or Coursework Preferred
- Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Engineering
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Office Proficiency
- Strong database skills
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Math aptitude
- Analytical and problem-solving ability
Other
- One+ Actuarial exams passed and actively pursuing CAS/SOA credentials
- Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and critical thinking
