What You Will Do
Actuarial interns perform data analysis using Excel, ProVal, and proprietary Milliman programs to assist with consulting for various employee benefits work areas.
Within a project team, consultants, project managers, analysts, and interns coordinate their efforts to deliver client reports and deliverables. Consultants are responsible for building relationships with clients, directing projects, and presenting results. Project managers work directly with analysts by reviewing work, answering questions, and developing client correspondence. Analysts are responsible for the majority of the technical work, which may include analyzing data, completing actuarial calculations, developing and utilizing actuarial models, and implementing software solutions. Interns are given very similar responsibilities compared to full-time analysts, and work alongside all levels of a project team while learning and expanding upon various actuarial concepts and computer programs.
What We Are Looking For
Required:
- Must have completed junior or senior high school with aspirations to pursue a bachelor's or master's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or another major with quantitative course work
- Candidates are expected to have strong communication skills, be flexible, and show ambition and excitement for their professional development within the actuarial field.
- Must be 18 years of age at start date
Desired:
- Candidates should have academic exposure to Microsoft Excel. Prior internship(s) or actuarial-related work experience is beneficial but not required.
- Strong time management skills, attention to detail, and organizational expertise are strongly preferred.
The Team
The EB Consulting practice provides actuarial and other consulting services for multiple industries, for actives and retirees and for Corporate, Public and Multiemployer Plans. This practice works with several key types of clients organized into the following seven lines of business:
- Corporate Pension Plans
- Multiemployer Pension Plans
- Public Pension Plans
- Other Postretirement Benefit Plans (Corporate, Multiemployer, and Public combined)
- Health and Group Benefits (Corporate, Multiemployer, and Public combined)
- Compensation and Benefits Surveys
- Investments
Location
This position is based out of the of Milliman Hartford, CT office. You must be able to work in the office at least two days per week.
Compensation
The salary range is $20.00 to $22.00 per hour depending on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc.
