Job Opportunity:
BHSI has an exciting opportunity for an actuary to be a key contributor for the healthcare pricing group. The ideal candidate has at least five years of experience pricing healthcare professional liability with a focus on large hospital institutions and senior care facilities. The teammate will be responsible for supporting the entire North American Healthcare team and will work closely with Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, and IT. The position sits within the Casualty &Healthcare North American Actuarial Pricing team and will be exposed to other product lines within the larger Casualty group. This role can be based in Boston, Chicago, New York, or Atlanta.
This role is open to candidates who are credentialed as ACAS or FCAS. Job title and compensation will be commensurate with the experience and exam level of the individual.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Price individual, large hospital and senior care accounts, working closely with underwriting throughout the process and effectively communicating insights into account and venue performance.
- Engage in portfolio management and profitability reviews with senior leaders of the business. Help develop go forward strategies.
- Analyze large amounts of loss and exposure data sent through the submission process to help derive proprietary pricing factors.
- Assist in research and evaluation of new pricing methodologies, products, or venues.
- Evaluate current pricing models and suggest new methodologies and improvements to existing structures.
- Maintain and improve pricing tools to ensure quality and ease of use for teammates in Actuarial and Underwriting.
- Collaborate effectively with the actuarial data and analytics team to enhance processes and maintain a high standard of data integrity.
- Collaborate with offshore resources to improve business processes and increase efficiency.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in a Healthcare professional liability actuarial role, preferably excess & surplus.
- ACAS or FCAS credential is required.
- Advanced Excel knowledge is required. Expertise with SQL or R is strongly preferred.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a team environment with actuarial and non-actuarial teammates.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
- Strong desire to learn from and share knowledge with teammates.
- Effective time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects at the same time.

NOTE: The base salary range for this position is $130,000 – $250,000. A discretionary bonus will be payable in addition to this base salary. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
