Company:

Everest Advisors (Uk), Ltd.

Job Category:

Job Description:

Who we are:

Everest is a leading global Reinsurance and Insurance organisation with extensive product and distribution capabilities, a strong balance sheet and an innovative culture. Throughout our history, Everest has maintained its discipline and focus on creating long term value through underwriting excellence and strong risk and capital Management.

Why join:

Everest Insurance International (EII) is a fast-growing division of Everest Insurance and part of a global group. EII consists of Everest Syndicate 2786, Everest Insurance Ireland, Singapore, Latam and Australia, with several related service companies and further branches planned.

It is an exciting time and an excellent opportunity to be joining EII during this expansion, which covers top line growth, products and increased geographies (European branches, Asia and Pacific). The Actuarial Function (Reserving and Capital) is instrumental in supporting this growth and longer-term ambitions, with significant investment and wider Group collaboration in establishing a best-in-class actuarial set up.

As part of the Everest Insurance journey, we are now fully in-housing the syndicate managing agent. The Head of Capital role is to lead the Lloyd’s establishment of the capital modelling team and its capabilities, ensuring all governance and regulatory requirements are managed and met. The in-housing will be on a prioritised basis, with required planning, vision and influence to support continual improvement for best practice standards and add-value proposition.

The successful candidate will work with autonomy in a supportive and encouraging environment. This will be suitable to someone looking to be empowered to take on ownership, make a tangible impact with the business and who enjoys collaborating with others.

The way EII is structured provides ample opportunity to make a tangible impact on the day-to-day and future direction of the actuarial department, and personally play a critical role in influencing, establishing and growing the EII actuarial capabilities.

As a key member of the actuarial team, you will be required to lead multiple deliverables, interactions and propose initiatives for future enhancements to drive forward.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead the syndicate capital team’s in-housing and continual build out of its capabilities

  • Support and provide oversight to non-syndicate EII capital requirements

  • Contribute to and lead capital discussions, including with the capital working party and Syndicate Board

  • Collaborate with other key stakeholders to support inputs and oversight to the capital review process and initiatives

  • Timely delivery and concise communication of internal and external reporting

  • Continuously improve analysis and outputs to ensure it is at the forefront of the industry in order to maintain commercial advantage

  • Quantitative inputs to the ORSA process and ad-hoc stress and scenario analysis

  • Coordination of and support to annual independent validation

  • Embed the internal capital model within the business and use for business decision-making (including reinsurance program design and underwriting).

  • Support the Syndicate Chief Actuary in producing the actuarial function report

  • Develop and comply appropriate controls over model inputs, parameters, judgments and outputs

  • Ensuring best practice and compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements

As International continues to grow and evolve, the successful applicant will be heavily involved in the wider actuarial team’s journey and evolution to deliver quality tools and insights, which include:

  • Identifying, planning and leading the execution of future enhancements to the capital modelling tools, approaches and add-value proposition

  • Collaborating with pricing, reserving and exposure management to ensure synergies across processes and teams, supporting efficiency, cross-learning and increased capacity for add-value tasks

  • Modelling and coordinating inputs to parameter updates

  • Enhancing the monitoring, MI and communication of key limitations and proposals

  • Key stakeholders include risk, finance, group capital management, Lloyd’s, external audit, actuarial, Syndicate Board and senior management

  • This role will be highly visible and integrated as part of the wider actuarial team, with opportunity to collaborate, learn and contribute across the functions and business

Professional Experience:

  • Qualified Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA) or similar

  • Significant Lloyd’s internal capital model and governance experience

  • Proven management capabilities of capital teams and wider stakeholders (internal and external)

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Maths, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Business or a similar field

Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent IT skills, MS Excel, MS Access, SQL, Power BI and ResQ

  • Internal capital model and Lloyd’s best practice requirements

  • Standard formula modelling

  • Excellent organisational skills and a strong attention to detail

  • Ability to simply communicate modelling process and results with internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and through reports or presentations

  • Ability to prioritise and rationalise capital model strategic initiatives, informed by detailed knowledge and support network

  • A flexible and enthusiastic approach to work with a strong appetite to network, learn and develop

Competencies:

  • The role holder will be required to embrace the Everest Core Values: Collaboration, Thoughtful Assumption of Risk, Execution, Humility and Leadership

  • The Everest Core Values are the foundation upon which we (a) conduct our work, and (b) conduct ourselves both internally with our colleagues, and externally with clients/customers
