  • Head of Actuarial Analytics:
    • Deep dives to explain plan monthly variances, identify drivers, and recommend changes
    • Develop new, and enhance current, analytics that lead to key insights into business performance
    • Improve Actuarial STAT analytics, particularly Plan to Actual


  • Head of Actuarial Projections - STAT and GAAP
    • Oversee liability model projections
    • Coordinate interaction of the liability projections with the Asset Modeling
    • Implement projection modeling changes to improve actuarial forecasts
    • Oversee annual unlocking and assumption updates
    • Oversee quarterly actuarial reforecasts
    • Develop top level updates as needed for Plan and Reforecast
    • Provide guidance on expectations and review of financial results
    • Implement new accounting standards and reinsurance treaties into actuarial projections
    • Actuarial liaison to Finance


  • Head of Fixed Modeling
    • Responsible for Ascend's Trad Product Modeling (Fixed Deferred Annuities, SPIA, and PRT)
    • Initiates, evaluates, implements and/or monitors model upgrades and modifications
    • Ensures compliance with Ascend model governance procedures and recommends changes


  • Head of Assumption Governance for Ascend
    • Coordinate with Risk Management and Product Pricing and Development to document and reconcile assumptions among various models and use cases
    • Enhance and maintain assumption repository


  • Other Duties
    • Support new initiatives with analysis and direction on how to reflect impacts in actuarial projections
    • Train and mentor staff
    • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Reports to Head of Financial Actuarial


Education:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Experience:

10+ years of relevant financial experience and leadership, preferably annuities

Physical Requirements
  • Requires prolonged sitting.
  • Requires continuous use of computer.
  • May lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 10 lbs.
  • Requires regular and predictable attendance.
  • Hybrid schedule
