Our Financial Actuaries are on the frontlines, quantifying risk, pricing insurance and reserving losses for AIG’s major regulated and rated insurance operating companies globally. Portfolio Analytics and Pricing Actuaries support AIG’s businesses and are responsible for technical pricing, product development analytics and performance measurement.
About the role
We are in the foundational stages of building out AIG’s Global Pricing area and are hiring our senior leadership team. This newly established team will have accountability for the quality and effectiveness of AIG’s pricing function across all lines of business and geographies.
This critical role will focus on developing global pricing standards and guidelines, establishing the framework for pricing signoffs and reviews, coordinating global pricing actuarial committees, and overseeing ultimate loss ratio framework feeding into the annual planning process. We are seeking an actuarial professional with deep industry expertise, proven leadership skills and a strong desire to succeed. The Global Head of Pricing Effectiveness will report into the Chief Actuary, Global Pricing.
**This is an on-site role 3 - 4 days per week.
What you need to know:
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining the global pricing policies, standards, and best practice guidelines in which the day-to-day actuarial pricing support is carried out at AIG.
- Instituting a monitoring framework, including a feedback loop focused on pricing quality and a review process focused on pricing consistency.
- Organize effective communication and training for pricing actuaries to support understanding of and adherence to policies and standards.
- Supervising the pricing governance and oversight framework including global and regional cross-functional committees.
- Maintaining pricing inventories.
- Oversight of framework supporting ultimate loss ratio projections for use in annual planning process.
- Responsible for managing rater scoring and assessment of pricing maturity.
- Facilitating best practice sharing between pricing actuaries across GI.
- Work with ERM and internal audit on model reviews and pricing audits to prevent duplication of effort.
What we’re looking for:
We are looking for an individual who is internally motivated, intellectually curious, has the ability to manage multiple priorities, and is driven to enhance existing processes. The candidate should possess strong technical and business expertise with the ability to build sustainable, collaborative relationships, influence stakeholders, and lead, motivate and gain commitment from key constituents.
Additional requirements include:
- Credentialed Actuary (Fellow or Associate) belonging to a globally recognized Actuarial Society (CAS or IFoA) with at least 15 years of pricing experience.
- Experience in senior GI actuarial roles, including pricing and team management.
- Strong relationship building skills, with the ability to influence others and drive a process to a conclusion while meeting critical deadlines are critical to success.
- Exceptional communication skills, including ability to develop and present clear and concise recommendations to senior management.
- Ability to dive into technical and execution level details, do hands-on work, connect the dots while thinking strategically.
- Ability to roll-out new initiatives, proactively engage and negotiate with senior actuarial stakeholders, challenge existing processes, and resolve conflict.
- Willing and able to continuously learn and adapt in a dynamic and fast changing environment.
- Comprehensive awareness of the business, regulatory environment, competitors, market cycle, technology, and legislative trends.
- Timeliness and attention to detail.
