The Financial Operations team within the Actuarial organization is responsible for delivering financial analysis that supports various strategic initiatives, transformational activities and ongoing efforts with the Actuarial organization of the General insurance business.

For positions based in NYC, the base salary range is $103,000-$143,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. The Financial Reporting Manager will be responsible for managing the quarter close process for actuarial organization, promoting best practices and ensuring global implementation and helping review and maintain the control framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the quarter close and year end processes for GI Actuarial organization. Represent actuarial team in close meetings with controllers/finance to ensure timely and complete deliverables.
- Work with Internal Audit Group, Finance Controls Unit, Actuarial Controllers and External Audit to ensure all required control documentation is produced and maintained by GI actuarial department as required.
- Annually review and challenge the reserving and closing processes including the financial control framework surrounding those processes. Suggest enhancements to improve quality of controls and efficiency of evidence and review these with actuarial controllers.
- In coordination with the actuarial controller group, propose process and control enhancements as needed in response to ongoing changes in data systems and process automation.
- Promote best practices for gathering control evidence, hold annual meetings to discuss controls and any updates with the actuarial community, and train team as necessary to comply with procedures.
- Ensure the AIG Global Reserving and Finance Actuarial Adjustments Policy and the AIG Actuarial Quality Assurance Standard are maintained each year, reflecting any material changes in the process and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Actuarial Science
- 5+ years of relevant experience in Financial Reporting within the Insurance industry.
- Experience in Financial Controls and Sarbanes Oxley Control documentation required
- Experience working with Auditors is required; Experience supporting actuarial function or P&C Reserving knowledge would be helpful but not required
- Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proven record of successfully managing relationships with various internal and external stakeholders
- Ability and experience implementing new, structured processes in an organization
- Attention to detail and ability to explain processes and how controls work to various audiences
- Proven strategic planner that can execute on strategy and drive change
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and in a concise manner
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Self-motivated, detailed oriented and responsible team player
- Audit background is a plus
